History
This Congregation of Priests and Brothers was founded by St. Antony Mary Claret on 16th July 1849 at Vic in Spain. At present there are 2980 Claretians working in 65 countries.
The aim of the Congregation is to glorify God and to sanctify the members by evangelizing the world, especially through the ministry of the Word. This is an active apostolic society of missionaries, missionary being understood in the sense of trying to express the life and style of the apostles in the following of Christ reflecting the experience of St. Claret. The Ministry of the Word is exercised taking into account whatever is urgent, opportune and effective. Hence the field of activity is not restricted to one but embraces the priorities of places and times such as mission among non - Christians, popular missions in parishes mass media and retreats, works for the marginalized, youth and family apostolate etc.
