History
Fr. Pierre Marie Mermier (1790-1862) a priest of the diocese of Annecy in France founded the congregation of the MSFS in 1838 to bring about the renewal of Christian life by preaching parish missions to evangelize people and to educate the youth. The first batch of MSFS landed in Pondicherry on 8th September, 1845 and the congregation for the evangelisation of peoples entrusted the Vicariate of Visakhapatnam to the MSFS on 2nd May 1848. Today MSFS has five provinces in India working in different states of the country.
In 1989 MSFS Fathers were invited and Anantapur was entrusted to them by Bishop Rajappa when Fr. M. Mariadas was the Provincial.
